Minutes of April, 23, 2009 Meeting

Members present: Bill Hopkins, Sandy Hopkins, Dennis Dunbar, John Nelson, Kyle DePietro, Carol Way, Marianne Williams

Secretary’s Report: Draft Minutes of March 19, 2009 meeting were approved.

Treasurer’s Report: Appears sufficient funds remain for publication of the Spring Newsletter. Approved to issue letter.

Draft Warrant Articles: Town Meeting Articles submitted for the CC and the Report for the Town Report were discussed and approved.

Riverbank Hydro Storage Project: Discussion regarding letter sent on 4/7 to the Commission in response to the Riverbank Project’s Pre-application Document as an intervener.

Island Clean-Up Day: Saturday, May 2^nd, at 9:30. Marianne will organize/chair. Rain date May 16th.

Earth Day Activities: Planned April 25, Saturday, at 9:30. Clough Point Clean-up. Carol Way will be putting out the plant signs, as the species appear.

Land Conservation Issues:

• Land Trusts –draft of the “Requirements for Non-profit Exemption for Land Trusts on Westport Island” Dennis will speak to the County Planner regarding our draft ideas and to the Planning Board later.

Upcoming Events for members:

• Westport Island historic settlement maps program – discussion.
• Maine Land Trust Network Conference May 1^st and 2^nd in Brunswick.
• MEACC Board meeting May 2^nd – looking for a Director position.
• MEACC Open Space Planning workshop – April 27 – all day meeting. Dennis plans to attend.

Spring Newsletter: Dennis displayed his draft and members discussed other topics to be included. Story on building the Window Insulators to be added by Bill. Plan is to mail out to residents before June Town Meeting.

The next meeting will be held on May 21, 2009 at 7 p.m.
