Draft Minutes of August 20, 2009 Meeting

Members present: Bill Hopkins, Sandy Hopkins, Dennis Dunbar

Guest: David Blake, Gerry Bodmer

Secretary’s Report:

• Draft Minutes of May 21, 2009 meeting were approved.
• June meeting was cancelled due to vacations.
• July meeting was a work meeting at the Bonyun Preserve which was attended by Bill Hopkins, Dennis Dunbar and Sandy Hopkins.

Treasurer’s Report: Was accepted as amended.

Riverbank Hydro Storage Project:

• Bill commented on July 9, Joint Public Meeting with RWEC (Riverbank Wiscasset Energy Center).
• Discussed and revised draft letter to FERC regarding studies to be conducted with Gerry Bodmer (Groundwater Committee member)

Clough Point: Discussed parking issues and the need for a directional sign for parking. Also discussed poor road condition, which is a private road near the Preserve. While its been difficult for town to provide funds to aide in repairs to this private road section a possible plan may be to have the private road residents form an association to which the preserve would contribute as others, and to make the Preserve’s share a budget item from Conservation Commission Fund to raise at Town Meeting.

Membership:

• Dana Cromwell’s commission as Member expired in July. Its uncertain if he wants to continue, as he has been absent from many meetings. Bill will discuss with him.
• Two residents have recently expressed interest in joining (Springhorn and Lane).
• Will ask Selectmen to appoint Ann Springhorn a new Member.
• Will ask Selectmen to appoint Stanley Lane an Associate member.

Other Business:

• Additional work needs to be completed at the Bonyun Preserve. Plan is to do this in September.

The next meeting will be held on September 17, 2009 at 7 p.m.
