BOARD OF SELECTMEN, ASSESSORS AND OVERSEERS MEETING

MARCH 17, 2008

 

Present:

 

Board members: George D. Richardson, Jr., Brenda J. Bonyun and John B. Swanton

 

Guests:    Lynn Orne representing Lincoln County Emergency Management Agency/Red Cross, Charlotte Boynton of the Wiscasset Newspaper and Bob Fairfield of Wiscasset

 

Meeting Commenced:

 

1.  George called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m.  A quorum was present. 

 

Business Conducted: 

 

2.       Warrant No. 38 for $9,352.82 was presented.   George moved to accept; Brenda, 2nd; vote: 3-0.

 

3.       Minutes of the March 3, 2008, meeting were reviewed.  George moved to accept; Jack, 2nd; vote: 3-0.

 

4.       Lynn Orne of Southport informed the Board of three training classes coming up in the next three weeks for running a shelter during times of emergency. 

 

5.       Prepared letters to John Burhoe and Sally and Stephen Sacchetti were signed.

 

6.       George moved to pay Bob Meixell $25.00 for his serving as moderator at the special town meeting on March 15, 2008.  Brenda, 2nd; vote: 3-0.

 

7.       The draft of a letter to citizens that were over-abated was edited.  The letter asks them if they would like to join the people who are voluntarily returning these abatements.

 

8.       Sam Chapman’s request to expand his use of Squam Creek to grow oysters was approved.

 

9.       George moved to set the annual town meeting date for June 21, 2008 at 9:00 a.m.  Voting for town officers will be June 20th.  Brenda 2nd, vote: 3-0

 

10.   George moved to have the town sponsor the Community Association’s wine tasting on May 17th.  Jack seconded the motion; vote: 3-0.


 

11.   George moved to approve the following abatements (unless otherwise noted); Brenda, 2nd; vote: 3-0.
