BOARD OF SELECTMEN, ASSESSORS AND OVERSEERS MEETING

JULY 7, 2008

Guests:  Bob Fairfield and Charlotte Boynton of the Wiscasset Newspaper

 

  1. Meeting convened at 7 p.m.
  2. B.O.S. reviewed warrant No. 1 for $11,571.56. George moved to approve with the condition that two members of the school board signed the school warrant first and bills out of that account not be paid until the signatures are on file (with the exception of the bus drivers). Brenda 2nd. Vote 3-0.
  3. B.O.S. reviewed the minutes of June 30, 2008.  George requested the line about Bill Brewer’s office doing the audit be amended to read July 1, 2006 to June 30, 2007 and July 1, 2007 to June 30, 2008.  Brenda 2nd. Vote 3-0.
  4. George moved the B.O.S. vote for John Anderson and William Post for the M.M.A. Legislative Policy Committee. Ross 2nd. Vote 3-0.
  5. Mary Ellen Barnes resigned from the Conservation Commission as she is quite involved in the History Committee and the Wright Property Committee.  George suggested we write her a letter of thanks for the work she has done.
  6. Ann Cavanaugh gave the B.O.S. copies of letters to Tom Deedy regarding his trash.  She has not yet received any notice back. George made an attempt to call Tom, but there was no answer. Brenda will make a visit and attempt to discuss the issue with him.
  7. The B.O.S. signed some appointments made last week but cannot finish them as Jack’s name is still on several.
  8. George moved to appoint Bud Gallagher as Harbor Master. Brenda 2nd. Vote 3-0.
  9. George moved to appoint Dan Bradford as Harbor Master Deputy. Brenda 2nd. Vote 3-0.
  10. George moved to appoint Bill Frenier as Tree Warden and Arborist. Brenda 2nd. Vote 3-0.
  11. George moved to appoint Amos Greenleaf as Constable and Animal Control Officer. Ross 2nd. Vote 3-0.
  12. George moved to appoint Susan as Tax Collector, Treasurer, and Administrative Assistant. Ross 2nd. Vote 3-0.
  13. George moved to appoint Dedee Greenleaf-Hodgdon as Excise Tax Collector, Deputy Treasurer and Deputy Tax Collector. Ross 2nd. Vote 3-0.
  14. George moved to appoint Ann Cavanaugh as Health Officer. Brenda 2nd.                   Vote 3-0.
  15. George moved to appoint Bob Mooney as Emergency Management and Civil Defense Director. Brenda 2nd. Vote 3-0.
  16. Tom Deedy returned our call and stated he would have his students remove all trash and cars on Wednesday July 16th.
  17. Meeting was adjourned at 8:27 p.m.
