Board of Selectmen, Assessors and Overseers Meeting

August 22, 2011

 

Present: 

George D. Richardson, Jr, Gerald A. Bodmer & Ross Norton

Citizens: John & Ruth Nelson, Neil & Ann Cavanaugh, Carole Bodmer

Guests: Charlotte Boynton (Wiscasset Newspaper), Alec Brodsky (Lincoln County News)

 

1. BOS Meeting Commenced:

George called the meeting to order at 7:08 p.m.

 

Business Conducted:

2. Warrant:

George motioned to approve Warrant # 8 for a total of $103,013.28                      

 (Payroll- $4,219.75 and Payables- $98,793.53); Jerry 2nd, vote 3-0

 

3. BOS Minutes:

George motioned to approve the minutes of the August 8, 2011; Jerry 2nd, vote 3-0

 

4. New Fire Truck Financial Paperwork Bill:

George discussed the $612.50 bill from Bill Dale for his work done on the paperwork for the new fire truck.

 

5. Municipal Client Seminar:

George advised of the Jensen, Baird, Gardiner & Henry Client Seminar to be held on 9/29/11 for any municipal officials.

                    

6. Jetty Progress:

George advised of an 8/24/11, 09:00 a.m. meeting at the DOT Project manager Catherine Small’s office that he will attend with Steve DeWick regarding crib #5’s construction method.

 

7. Ferry Landing House Issues:

Both John Nelson & George advised of a sill problem found under the front door when the steps were being prepared for cement work.  Committee members Art Ballard, Al Andrews & Richard Devries were going to replace the rotted sill, siding and trim boards.

Also, George advised that he was going to provide the tenant another key so that she could lock her doors while she was away.

 

8. MDOT Roadwork:

George advised the MDOT was beginning road work on the (5) miles of state minor collector road, Route 144, today. Their schedule is to do ditching and several culverts within two weeks.

 

9. New Computer for the Selectmen’s Office:

George motioned to allow Ross to purchase a new computer and screen for the Selectmen’s office to replace the existing computer which will be put into the Town Clerk’s office;  Jerry 2nd, vote 3-0

 

10. Shore Land Tree Cutting Violation Meeting with the D.E.P.:

George advised of an 8/25/11 09:00 a..m. meeting with the D.E.P. ( Chris Cabot & Deirdre Schneider) & Bill Phinney regarding possible violations of cutting vegetation in the Shore Land Zone at the Map 1 Lot 65.1 (Amistadi)  & Map 6 Lot 102.1 (Collins).

 

11. Property Break In;

Jerry said that he was told by the caretaker for the Crosman property (Map 6, Lot 6.5) that the main house had recently been broken into and copper pipes and electrical wiring had been cut and stolen. He said that the barn had been burglarized as well.

Jerry advised that all should be on the lookout for suspicious vehicles on any property, try to get license plate numbers and report to sheriff or the Selectmen’s office.

 

12. Meeting Adjourned:

George moved to adjourn the meeting at 7:40 p.m.:  Jerry  2nd, vote 3-0
