Hearing Called to Order:
1. George called the hearing to order at 6:50
p.m.
Business Conducted:
2. The public notice was read aloud.
3. Comments were solicited from the
citizens present. None were given.
4. Bill Cooney, Chairman of the Town Hall
Committee, stated that the work on the furnace and the painting had been fully completed
in a timely fashion. The Town Hall Committee was pleased with all of the contractors’
work.
Hearing Adjourned:

made a motion to adjourn the hearing at 7:00 p.m. Brenda seconded the motion; vote: 3-0. The hearing was adjourned.

BOARD OF SELECTMEN, ASSESSORS AND OVERSEERS MEETING

Meeting Commenced:
1. George called the meeting to
order at 7:01 p.m. A quorum was present.
Business Conducted:

Jack questioned whether we should consider flying a flag with a light at the
Town Hall. He will do some research into the cost.
3.
Bill Cooney said the next projects the Town Hall Committee will look into are
the entry way, the floor and the stage.
4.
The minutes for the Dec. 6, 2006 BOS meeting were reviewed. George moved to
accept with a date correction; Brenda, 2nd; Vote: unanimous.
5.
Warrant No. 24 for $35,259.06 was presented. George moved to accept; Jack, 2nd;
vote: unanimous.
6.
George read a letter from E. Davies Allen to Susan Partelow
requesting a list of all recipients of help from the Human Resource Committee
in the past six months. He also read an anonymous letter to Mr. Allan besieging
him to reconsider the request due to confidentiality issues. It was decided to direct Susan to give Mr.
Allan a list of total amounts with no names as well as a copy of the anonymous
letter. George motioned to go with this
decision; Brenda, 2nd; vote: unanimous.
7.
Fire Chief Bob Mooney suggested we have an Automatic Electronic Defibrillator
unit on site at the Town Office for emergency purposes. The staff can be
trained for a cost of $75 each.
8.
George read a letter of resignation from Westport Island Conservation
Commission members David and Carol Spiegel.
George moved to accept their letter of resignation; Jack, 2nd;
vote: 3-0. The Board of Selectmen accepted their resignations with regret as
the Spiegel’s have done so much for

The B.O.S. signed an abatement for John Caswell for
$125.33. George moved to mail it with a letter. Jack seconded the motion; vote:
3-0.

The B.O.S. signed a thank you letter to David and Carol Blake for their
donation of a bookcase.

Ruth reported on the Flood Map Modernization Scoping program she attended.
