committee met at
Minutes: A
motion was made and seconded to accept the minutes from the October meeting as
read. This was approved by the members
of the committee. After signing the
minutes by committee members, a copy of the minutes will be given to the town
selectmen and a copy will be posted at the town office. An additional e-copy
will be sent to the town administrative assistant.
Warden’s report: Neither
Lincoln nor Joe had anything to report as a result of their patrols during this
past month.
McCarty Cove Seeding: The committee discussed the removal of the netting
and sampling at McCarty Cove. Clement
reported that the netting was removed on October 14 as was planned. Minimum samples were obtained which indicated
only a slight amount of growth from the clams that were placed in April.
Accident Insurance Coverage: George
Richardson has this item and is checking in the availability of the accident
insurance. He will advise the committee when he has an answer.
Squam Creek Harvesting: Joe
reported to the committee that he and Forest Smith had visited the various newly
opened clam flats. Subsequent to this
visit,
Shellfish ordinance: Joe
reported that he has added the following to our Shellfish Ordinance and has
sent the ordinance to the DMR Commissioner for approval. Once approved the ordinance will add the following
“No person holding a Commercial State of Maine Shellfish License will be
permitted to purchase a Recreational Shellfish License on Westport Island” to
our current ordinance. Once we receive the approval back it will be given to
the BOS for approval.
