Meeting Minutes

Approval of minutes from previous meeting: Minutes from previous meeting were approved by committee members
Squam Creek Water Sampling: Postponed until Clem can share his update.
McCarty Cove Reserve for Recreational Digging: We need to do a sampling to see about opening McCarty Cove for recreational clamming. We’ll try to do a sampling on Saturday, May 10th, at 9:00 AM. After Ron gives us feedback, we’ll learn whether it’s ready for clamming.
Flat closure during January - February: A question
was posed about closing the flats during January – February so that clams won’t
be frozen when they’re dug over. The committee, along with
Survey Mill Cove Flat: We will do a clam survey on the
13th (Sunday) at 10:30 to see whether we need to reseed the flat. It
is presently open. [Park at Bunyon Preserve, down his
driveway.]
Warden’s Report: No one reported illegal diggers.
License Issue: Licenses will be issued on May 1.

Any
person may apply to the Town Clerk for the license. The Town Clerk shall issue
licenses to residents and nonresidents as allocated from May 1st and until July
31 after which licenses shall be issued to residents and nonresidents on a
first-come, first-served basis.
What is
the cost of a shellfish license?
A resident recreational license is $15 per person. A nonresident recreational license is $30 per person. Recreational shellfish license fees will be waived for applicants 65 years or older and 12 years or younger, but are still required to have a valid license.
Is
there a limit to the amount of shellfish I can dig? Those holding valid licenses may dig and take no more than
one peck of shellfish in any one day for the use of themselves and their family.
